Forgiveness is one of the most powerful practices you can take part in. The great thing about forgiveness is that: People don’t need to ask for your forgiveness, and people don’t even need to know that you’ve forgiven them.
Forgiveness is all about you. It’s a way of releasing your weight. If someone steals from you in business, can you forgive them? Absolutely. Will you continue to do business with them? Probably not. Will you trust them? Probably not. But trust is on them. That’s the weight they will need to carry. Forgiveness is about you. If you don’t forgive, you will carry the trust weight. Forgive them and release it. This is the incredible power of forgiveness.
This week’s Spark comes with a little homework. In order to fully release that weight you need to write two letters. The first letter will be to someone that you need to forgive. Write it like a letter and be very, explicitly specific. It should be very short. Write what you are forgiving them for, the lessons you learned from it, and how you are moving forward in your life. Sign it with loving affection. Put it in an envelope and destroy it with celebration.
The second letter you write will be to yourself (because we are our own worst enemy). Write from the 3rd person and again, be very specific about why and how you are forgiving yourself. This time, put a stamp on it and mail it to yourself. In a week when you receive this letter, it will have an incredibly profound impact on your life.
Don’t forgive and forget. Forgive and move forward with the lessons and knowledge you gathered in that moment.
Live with love, live with passion.
